Shri Ramdev Temple

Ramdev ji Temple,Rajasthan Pilgrimage Travel Package The palatial Shri Ramdev Temple at Ramdevra, 13 km from Pokram in Jaisalmer district, accommodates the reliquary of Ramdev. Born in the household of Ajmalji in the Tomar Rajput family, Ramdev is considered to have been an incarnation that was sent by God for the enrichment of humankind. Since childhood, he was adept in various extraordinary spectacles that left people flabbergasted. It is also assumed that he slaughtered a demon named Bhairav. Ramadevra is the place where Ramdevji attained Samadhi and transcended into a divine realm.

The catacomb of Shri Ramdevji worshipped here lies at the core of the temple environs. The temple also houses charnels of the family members of Shri Ramdevji. According to Hindu religion, dead bodies are cremated, but here the dead bodies are put in a grave to ultimately mingle with the dust (like the Nath cult). Later, a tomb is built upon it.

Shri Ramdevji temple is a perfect exemplary of national coadunation and communal conformity. People uphold tremendous devotion, loyalty and reverence for Shri Ramdev Temple. Devotees from miscellaneous religions, caste, creed, are permitted entry into the Samadhi (tomb) without any discriminations. Fairs are held twice a year where people assemble and sing hymns in the glory of the temple. Many cultural events are also organized during this fair.
