Jagdish Temple

Jagdish Temple,Rajasthan Pilgrimage Travel Tours The Jagdish temple is an indo-Aryan temple fabricated by Maharana Jagat Singh in 1651. Situated 150 m north of the entrance to the City Palace, this spiffy temple is dedicated to Lord Vishnu as Jagannath (Lord of the Universe). The Jagdish temple is one of the largest and most celebrated Vishnu temples in Northern India. The pulchritudinous architecture of the temple gasconades of a conoidal apogee (shikhar), a foyer (mandap) and a porch. The spire is about 79ft high and is bedizen with carvings of dancers, musicians, elephants and horsemen. The temples also apotheosize a black stone image of Vishnu as Jagannath while two gargantuan elephants of stone accessorize the archway of the temple.

Jagdish Temple is a three-storied anatomy with 50 pillars each in the first and second floors. The main shrine houses the confounding four-armed image of Lord Vishnu carved out of a single piece of black stone. Four smaller shrines dedicated to Lord Ganesha, Sun God, Goddess Shakti and Lord Shiva respectively circumscribes the main shrine of Lord Jagdish (Vishnu). This temple was built in line with the Hindu architectural science of 'Vastushastra'. The luscious carvings on the pillars, the bedecked marquee, iconographic walls and ambrosial halls are indeed an archetype of architectural brilliance.
