The three days of celebrations include cadenced music complimented by stylish, vibrant and graceful dances. Celebrated artists from all over Rajasthan reach Jaisalmer to perform and earn accolades for their performances. The music and dance show are usually organized during the night. The day activities comprise of the craft bazaar with delicately embellished skirts, hand-woven shawls, rugs, wood and stone engravings, camel decorations, showy leather bags, ethnic silver jewelery etc. It really attracts tourists from around the country and also abroad. For those who appreciate the colorful art and culture of Rajasthan, the Desert festival is the ideal place for them.  Varied competitions the longest moustache competition and turban tying contest are organized to strike a chord among the people about the superb cultural legacy of Rajasthan. The ‘Ship of the Desert’, the camels are gorgeously bedecked with gaudy saddle clothes and ornaments and exhibited before a panel of judges who decide the winner among them. To add to this are the camel polo competitions and the camel dance performances that reveal two different aspects of the animal- its competitive and entertaining aspects. The climax of the festival is reached at the third night when the camels carry people on their back to the exclusively enthralling sand dunes which smolder under the silvery rays of the full moon. The entire backdrop is transformed into a effervescent heaven with musicians, dancers, puppeteers and snake charmers all flaunting the best of their skills.
